Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The file is in Microsoft Word format.
  • Text has double line spacing; font size 12; italics are used instead of underlining (except for URLs); all illustrations, figures and tables are placed in the appropriate places within the main body of text, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements as summarised in the ‘Author's guidelines’, which appear in the ‘About the Journal’ section in the platform of ENI.
  • If sent to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions that appear in ‘Securing an anonymous evaluation’ should be followed.
  • If an ARTICLE is sent to ENI, a complementary file should be also submitted, containing: (a) the full bibliographic reference of the published main work (indexed journal or book); (b) the code of the project funded by competitive grant (regional, national or European) whose results are intended to be disseminated; or (c) in the case of an article based on a knowledge transfer project, the title of the agreement and the parties that signed it.

Author Guidelines

Authors (academics, managers, entrepreneurs, technicians specialized in management and internationalisation, etc.) must submit their works according to the rules indicated below.

With regard to content:

1) Articles, short versions of bachelor or master degree thesis, and business cases may be submitted, as well as book reviews and contributions to the business tribune.

2) Works must offer new concepts, perspectives, approaches or innovative developments useful for the management and, in particular, for the processes of entrepreneurship and for international businesses.

3) Papers, whether articles, short versions of bachelor or master degree thesis, or business cases, should provide a key message or key recommendation, and this should be clearly included in the title of the paper, its abstract and/or the conclusions.

4) It should be ensured that the submitted work does not refer to the name of the author on any of its pages, in order to make the blind evaluation process possible.

With regard to length and structure:

1) The maximum length of papers (articles, short versions bachelor or master degree thesis, and business cases) will be 2,500 words (all included), although it is recommended that the dimension be shorter to facilitate the communication of a clear and direct message. Book reviews and contributions to the business tribune will have a maximum length of 1,500 words.

2) The first page of the paper will include the title, a short summary in Spanish and English or Portuguese and English (maximum 100 words in each language), four keywords (also in both languages), and two JEL descriptors (classification of the paper according to the Journal of Economic Literature).

With regard to style, language and format:

1) Authors should use a style of writing in accordance with the disseminating aim of the journal, so as to facilitate comprehension of the concepts presented to all the groups to which the ENI is targeted. It is recommended not to use a very large number of bibliographical references, with the limit of fifteen sources.

2) Spanish, Portuguese or English languages can be used.

3) Double spacing and Times New Roman font, size 12, will be used.

4) Bibliographical references must follow APA (7th Edition) format. For example:

García Cabrera, A. M., & Durán Herrera, J. J. (2016). MNEs as institutional entrepreneurs: A dynamic model of the co-evolutionary process, European Management Journal, 34(5), 550-563. doi: 10.1016/j.emj.2016.02.002.

López Duarte, C., Vidal Suárez, M. M., & González-Mieres, C. (2016). Estrategias de internacionalización de la empresa. Casos prácticos. Septem Ediciones.

Other guidelines related to the purpose and scope of the journal:

1) In the case of articles, these must be based on a main work published in an indexed scientific journal from the relevant field or in a research book, this being referenced in the manuscript submitted to ENI. Alternatively, the work can be part of a project funded by a competitive grant (regional, national or European) and whose results are intended to be disseminated, or be based on knowledge transfer experiences endorsed by the corresponding agreements. In this case, a reference to the project, or the title, and parties that sign the agreement, as appropriate, must be included in the submission. This information will be sent in a complementary file and never included in the main text of the manuscript.

2) In the case of short versions of bachelor or master degree thesis submitted to the Outstanding early-stage researchers section, they shall provide at least one of these three requirements: (1) information about the award or the honourable mention received; (2) the official transcript with an A or an Honors grade on the Thesis; or (3) the certificate of a Conference meeting where the thesis was presented.

3) If the work is accepted, the authors must assign the publication rights to ENI, the work being published in open-access format.

4) Given the informative and disseminating approach of the journal, ENI reserves the right to edit and correct the texts in order to guarantee the use of direct and accessible language for all the groups to which it is targeted, as well as to add images, tables, etc., for the same purpose.

Finally, works must be sent via the electronic platform of ENI journal, the entire process being managed through this platform.
