Abstract

This case aims to describe an innovative example of tourism entrepreneurship in a rural setting: Arte-Gaia, a small firm located in the town of Artenara on the island of Gran Canaria and created to contribute to local sustainable development. With information collected through personal interviews and various secondary sources, the entrepreneurial process followed by its founder, Juanate Gil, is analysed by evaluating the various strategic decisions adopted in the creation of this innovative business (concretion of the idea, definition of the service, choice of competitive strategy, search for financing, strategic alliances, etc.), as well as its main future challenges.
