Abstract

In view of the low understanding and known examples of international SME based on developed countries that reach success, the purpose of this study is to analyze the case of the company empakando. This SME was founded in the developing country of El Salvador in 2000 and successfully consolidated and internationalized toward countries in Central America. The case focuses on issues related to: the active process of searching of the business opportunity; the complementarity of the founding team members’ backgrounds; the commitment of the firm to implementing a corporate social responsibility; and the managing of difficulties existing in developing countries.
