Abstract

This paper focuses on two types of international entrepreneurs, "expat-preneurs": pre-departure expat-preneurs, who emigrate to other countries to create or expand a business outside their own country, and transitioned expat-preneurs, expatriates who, after a period, decide to become entrepreneurs, starting with an established customer base, capital, contacts and knowledge of the environment. This research contributes to understanding the reasons for entrepreneurship in other countries and the differences and similarities between global entrepreneurs. In addition, the results reveal that this is a process that can be considered gender selective.
