Articles

This section is of a miscellaneous scope, and invites original unpublished scientific papers that aim to divulge research results. The maximum length of articles is 8,500 words, including footnotes and bibliography. Philologica Canariensia does not publish articles of an informative nature. All contributions must be accompanied by an abstract in English, Spanish, and French not exceeding 120 words and a list of five keywords. Submissions are peer-reviewed, and this is an open and indexed section.

Notes

This is a miscellaneous section devoted to the publication of original unedited articles of a shorter length not exceeding 3,500 words, including the footnotes and final bibliography. They should be of a scientific nature and will communicate research results. The journal does not publish notes of an informative nature. All contributions must be accompanied by an abstract in English, Spanish, and French not exceeding 120 words and a list of five keywords. Submissions are peer-reviewed, and this is an open and indexed section.

Reviews

This open, indexed section offers a platform for reviews of research books, as long as they follow the thematic lines established by the journal. It also welcomes reviews of critical editions of literary works and anthologies with an introductory study. All book reviews are peer-reviewed and should not exceed 2,000 words. The journal only accepts reviews of books published within the last two years.

Monographic Dossier

Apart from the previous sections, Philologica Canariensia may also consider including a dossier focusing on a specific subject linked to Philology or other related areas, at the request of one or more researchers external to the journal and to the ULPGC, who will assume the role of coordinators. The person or persons in charge of coordinating this section should also write the presentation text. Proposals will be emailed to philologica@ulpgc.es for assessment and will contain the following information:

1.- Provisional title of the monographic dossier.

2.- Complete curriculum vitae of the coordinator(s) (a maximum of two are allowed).

3.- Description of the objectives and thematic scope of the dossier.

4.- Provisional list of participants in this section and their affiliations, as well as the title of their papers.

Proposals will be considered by the Editorial Board of the journal within a maximum period of one month from the date of receipt. Once the monographic dossier has been accepted, articles will be submitted using the OJS application available for this purpose at Register/Login. Papers submitted for publication in this special section should be original research that advances knowledge in any of the areas covered by the journal. As in the case of contributions to the permanent sections, these papers must also be submitted in accordance with the guidelines for contributors and will be subjected to a strict peer review process to ensure rigour, novelty, and consistency in the academic results. The maximum length of the works for the dossiers is identical to that of the articles section. Papers must be accompanied by an abstract in English, Spanish, and French not exceeding 120 words and a list of five keywords. This section is restricted to invited authors and is indexed. In addition, it must be composed of a minimum of six and a maximum of ten articles.

In those volumes that include a monographic section, articles on various topics will be shown under the heading Miscellany.

This section includes articles on a variety of topics in those volumes of the journal with a monographic dossier.
