The scientific rigour in research. Some issues from the area of Language and Literature Teaching

Research quality, Scientific rigour, Qualitative researchAbstract
Dealing with the rationale that mark the discourses on the quality of all scientific research, in this article we aim to confirm the scientific nature of the knowledge generated around the object of study of Didactics of Language and Literature (DLL). To accomplish this, we analyse in specialised literature the determinations to contemplate the own research of DLL, the notion of scientific quality and the criteria to evaluate it. As specified under the qualitative and quantitative paradigms, those criteria reveal the need to be itemised under the qualitative paradigm and a frequent notion: the scientific rigour. Since we believe that overcoming this polarity is crucial, we propose the scientific rigour as a macro criterion with comparable indicators between paradigms and knowledge fields. Due to its agreement for joint works of evaluation, it would consequently become part of the scientific culture of DLL and the initial and ongoing research training.
